Hot Off The Press - Homeland episode 5
*Minor Spoilers*
Kicking off my articles for November is episode five for Homeland, which is now around halfway through its third season, and now looks to be getting the show back on track but some have been asking if it's too late?
Well it's safe to say the third season has felt somewhat slower than the last two and there have been a lot of comments across social media that nothing has happened this season which is hard to deny. Brody remains absent again having only appeared in a single episode this season, the whole story regarding his family has come under a lot of fire from viewers and Carrie's story has taken a very slow approach. I read an article recently that suggested that Homeland has been spending its time fixing loose ends after season two, hoping that it will build up to something later on and this episode suggests just that.
Dana's runaway into the sunset story has finally come to a close (fans rejoice) and Carrie's operation with Saul seems to be in effect as their target enters the show. There were also some interesting surprises as Saul learns rather insultingly from Lockhart that his role as director is only for a short while as he attends a hunting party. While this episode packed a lot in terms of progressing the story, Saul certainly had the best scenes as he has the rug pulled from under his feet. How the narrow-minded Lockhart will change things around the CIA is one of the more intriguing aspects as a new threat is on the horizon.
While I'm hesitant to get too excited, this was a strong improvement that promises things will start to happen for those getting a little tired. That said, this season has certainly been a rocky road so far, and while the show might not return to the same peak of season one, that's no reason why the show can't develop and explore new areas, providing it's not about teenagers running away from home.
