Hot Off The Press - Homeland season 4 episode 3

Continuing at a steady pace, Homeland episode three saw Quinn start to get his act together and Carrie breaking the rules once again.

That said, it worked well as Saul brought Carrie back around and persuaded her to stop biting the heads off anyone who crossed her path. It made for a welcome change with the introduction of several new characters, however minor their roles may turn out to be.

While it is a shame to loose Corey Stoll's strong physical presence that he brought to the show, we still have the likes of the great Mandy Patinkin and F. Murray Abraham bringing some much needed gravitas. But, I think the show is overdue a few more interesting characters beyond the overworked office types and slick government officials. What we do have though is a great cast in a show that is four seasons in but is still developing its next story which can feel frustrating.

Adding to this are rumblings of a Carrie/ Quinn relationship, but this seems like a painful attempt at dropping the pace of the show. Is it necessary? Well apparently the producers thought people would only be interested in Homeland as long as there was a Carrie/ Brody relationship, and that dragged the show into some places it would have been better to avoid.

Was this a good episode though? Yes, it maintained a level of quality as Quinn made further discoveries regarding the ambush from episode one, but it's still not where it could be. With two more before we cross the halfway mark, I'm still curious to what happens next for the show, but will it be beyond what we've seen before?
